It looks like many people are looking to make a living online, and this site's name being "My Online Income Streams" it's only natural to think I've got some suggestions to make around the subject.

The funny thing is the site is not even three months old as I write this, and I'm already receiving emails from subscribers asking to advise them about this and that. Frankly, I didn't expect that to happen just yet, but it's welcome!

Moreover, I'm learning that answering people's emails in a certain way turns out to be yet another online income stream! Live and learn! And I'm not talking about inserting affiliate links or any other link in the emails, no, no. But this stream is another story and shall be told another time. ;)

Today I share my thoughts about...

I don't know if you're looking for a work type of thing or to build your own business. Working, that is, trading your hours for money is not very appealing to me even if you manage to work from home, so I'm not very knowledgeable about the work options and which ones do pay.

But if you insist on working, the best option I know is doing paid surveys, and I only recommend that if you're a U.S. citizen.

In addition to the paid survey directories in that article, I think there are a few free directory sites. You shouldn't have a problem finding them with a search for "free paid surveys directory" or something alike.

And whenever you're considering joining any program, don't forget to run a search for "YourProgramName scam" and "YourProgramName Ponzi scheme" even before reading their terms of service. That should save you some time and frustration.

Looking at the long term I prefer to focus my efforts on building my own online business assets and profiting from them. And the more I know about the net the more I'm focusing my efforts on building exactly two types of them:

* MY OWN subscriber lists - For a good explanation of why it is so important for you to build these, take a good look at this link.

* And MY OWN websites - A program I recommend for developing your own is this one.

Did you notice the big MY OWN's above? That's because I've been promoting someone else's sites, products, affiliate programs, driving subscribers to someone else's lists, and even though I've succeeded at that I've always known the target sites' owners were getting the biggest part of my promotional efforts, that is, a customer or subscriber for life.

If you're into earning money from the net in the long term, you should start, or at least aim at building your own business assets because:

* They grow with your efforts.

* They're yours for life.

* A big part of the processes can be automated.

* You can sell them to someone else when you decide to retire.

* You can pass the knowledge you've acquired and the assets themselves to your children, to your associates or whoever you wish.

* You can sell that knowledge in an eBook, in seminars...

* Because when you work you're actually wasting your efforts in building someone else's business assets when you could be building yours. That doesn't make any sense to me.

* Because when you stop working you stop earning.

Besides, in the online world is even easier to not get your payment for your work than in the offline world.

I'll be telling more about how to build your own websites and profit from them in coming issues, so stay tuned! I know that building your own web site may sound far-fetched if you've never done it, but it's only a matter of following the right steps.

And even if you decide to start your online money making with a work type of program, leave your mind open for learning what is necessary to build your online business assets, that is, your web sites and subscriber lists. Take the time to evaluate the offers you come across for domain names, web hosting, autoresponders and list building solutions.

Again: No hurries, no pressures, but in the long term you should definitely AIM FOR THIS!
